2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS

By Sandra Auren

A few days ago, The Pew Research Center released a report on Key facts about U.S. voter priorities ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. This revealed some of the top issues for Democratic and Republican voters.

The Takeaways

Issues such as Abortion, Health Care, Immigration, Climate Change, and problems around Race & Ethnicity continue to be polarizing. We see a distinct gap of interest between Republican and Democratic voters. While we see Democratic candidate supporters showing more concern about Healthcare and Abortion, Republicans are interested in solving issues such as Immigration and the Economy.

Common Ground

Surprisingly, Gun Policy and Energy and how elections and voting works in the country seem to be an area of interest for most registered voters. While they may disagree on the “How,” these areas seem to be primed to engage both sides in a conversation.

What Needs More Attention

A significant number of voters are concerned about education. In fact, a survey conducted by Gallup in 2021 revealed that 54% of Americans are dissatisfied with the quality of education that students K-12 receive. Yet, most conversations and bills linked to education are closely tied to issues like CRT (Critical Race theory) and anti-LGBTQIA+ rights.
